UPDATE: It turns out WinHIIP does recognize the drive when connected through an external enclosure - as long as you run WinHIIP as an administrator, which I forgot to do. I'm aware that there are apparently newer methods for playing PS2 games from a HDD, but since the set-up I have now works well, I'd like to avoid altering it unless that's the only option. Is there some way to prepare the disc image so that HD Loader will recognize it and copy it? HD Loader never recognizes the DVDs as PS2 games. Is there any software now that would allow this (preferably for Linux)?Ĭopy a burned DVD to the HDD using HD Loader This is something I've tried a few times, but it's never worked for me. Use an external PATA HDD USB enclosure I have one, but WinHIIP does not recognize the drive, as I expected. I'd very much like to know if either of the following methods would be possible: I haven't wanted to add any games in a while, but now I do and my new computer does not have a PATA port. The way I used to add games to the HDD, other than doing so from an official DVD, was to connect the HDD to my computer's PATA port and use the Windows software WinHIIP to perform the copy. ![]() I softmodded my PS2 almost a decade ago and play games using HD Loader v0.8c.
